How do I switch WETH to ETH?
I have WETH in my Metamask wallet, from Opensea sales. How do I convert that to ETH? On Opensea, if I click bridge to ETH, it brings me to the Polygon site, and I'm not totally confident that I'm doing it right, so if anyone can provide a step by step, I'd appreciate it! Thank you!

Hi Heather! I'm assuming your collections are sold on Polygon, correct? (I remember we had a conversation about this on Twitter so I have some extra info here hehe!) It sounds like your WETH is actually on the Polygon network, and not the ETH network, which is why on OpenSea it brings you to the Polygon site. What you'll need to do is first bridge your WETH from Polygon to the Ethereum blockchain on Polygon's site (where OpenSea directs you), and then you can use OpenSea directly to convert WETH to ETH on the Ethereum blockchain if that makes sense. This will be true whenever you receive WETH on Polygon - it's a different blockchain from Ethereum entirely, so you won't be able to convert any assets directly from Polygon to Ethereum without bridging them first! So sorry I'm not able to make a more in depth walkthrough today (totally slammed with Hey Mint work to boost our security in the aftermath of Premint rn), but here's the link to the Polygon Bridge: https://wallet.polygon.technology/bridge/ And here's their tutorial video on how to do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cdi1WJZ3VrU&list=PLslsfan1R_z0Epvnqsj29V1LBAh99dzu9&index=4 Hope that helps!! Please do ask again if any step is confusing! The Polygon Bridge frequently breaks too so that doesn't help things lol. Web3 is so confusing!
Hi there. Simply open metamask and click swap.
Have the top bar set to Weth and the bottom bar set to Eth.
So, when I do this with my wallet on the ETH network, it shows I have no WETH to swap. When I have it switched to Polygon network, it won't let me select ETH in the second box.
Oh that must mean you sold an NFT on Polygon. So you received Polygon wrapped Eth. As Ben mentioned you will need to bridge it.
Hi , as Chesco mentioned clicking on SWAP in Metamask is probably the more straightforward way to do it. Maybe try switching to Polygon network first on MM, then SWAP. or you can also try the swapping using UNISWAP https://app.uniswap.org/#/swap?chain=polygon or SUSHISWAP https://app.sushi.com/swap?chainId=137 you will need to select WETH first then ETH on the second line, then you will need to approve the transaction. You may need to approve the token first so that is a one time transaction, be sure to do it when gas is reasonable and the amount you swap makes sense.
So, no matter what option I try, whether it's uniswap, metamask or even the polygon site, I have the same issue. When I do this with my wallet on the ETH network, it shows I have no WETH to swap. When I do it with my wallet on polygon, ETH won't show up as an option to swap TO.
Have you tried first swapping weth to eth in the same chain (eth mainnet or polygon) and then later use the polygon bridge to bridge it to the other chain ? Your weth from OS sales is on Eth mainnet or Polygon ?
the swap button on MetaMask or directly on Opensea. Sometimes, there is some bugs, but it works normally.
