Thanks so much for posting this P3rlArts! So sorry, just realized this must be a UX thing on our side to solve, but you actually posted your answer as the description of the question itself - if you want to answer your own question, you'll have to post the answer separately - sorry about that, and thank you so much for taking so much time to write such helpful content here!!
In crypto, the term rug pull refers when a development team suddenly abandons a project and sells or removes all its liquidity. The name comes from the phrase to pull the rug out from under (someone), meaning to withdraw support unexpectedly. These projects are typically base on hype so there is a lot of marketing but no real substance behind it. To protect yourself from rug pulls, make sure to do diligent research on projects, that is speak to the community, read the white paper, investigate its social channels.
the research part is challening. I've been in many communities where the intent seemed legit and the plans seemed solid but after the mint, nothing happened. So maybe not an intentional rug pull, but the net effect is the same. The world is full of promises, few are actually delivered. But some folks are satisfied to just be in a discord where all that's happening are "gm"s. so maybe that is all a project offers, it is legit..
When a project (team) hypes their project with huge promises, gets lots of people to buy their nfts and then disappears with the money, like closes the project.
